A 42-year-old man, initially arrested for assaulting a Vietnamese woman, has been charged with murder after the victim succumbed to her injuries. The incident occurred at the Royal Plaza Hotel in Mong Kok, where the 46-year-old woman was found unconscious and later declared dead.

The tragic event unfolded early yesterday (May 2) around 6.30am, when hotel staff alerted the police. Officers who responded to the call found the woman lying unconscious on a chair with facial injuries. She was immediately transported to Kwong Wah Hospital for treatment, where she was pronounced dead at approximately 5pm.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim may have been attacked in her hotel room with a blunt object by a man who subsequently fled the scene.
The suspect was later apprehended in the Mong Kok area on initial charges of assault causing bodily harm. Following further investigation, the authorities upgraded the case to murder.
The police have announced plans to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. More details are expected as the investigation continues.
