English Premier League club Manchester United's legendary striker Dwight Yorke visited Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday during his trip to Hong Kong.
Invited by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), Yorke was accompanied by Chief Executive Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges and steward in the Club Lester Garson Huang to tour the Parade Ring for an up-close view of the paddocks.
He also witnessed the leading horse flash past the winning post of "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Trophy."
This marked Yorke's second visit to the Hong Kong racecourse, where he expressed admiration for the vibrant atmosphere.
He commented on the similarities between jockeys and football players, noting that both groups are professional athletes with a strong competitive spirit.
Yorke, originally from Trinidad, humorously suggested that should he become a horse owner, he would name the horse "Trinidad."
The purpose of Yorke's visit to Hong Kong was to participate in activities associated with the "JC School Football Development Scheme."
The Scheme is a collaboration between the Jockey Club and Manchester United, aimed at promoting football in local schools and tertiary institutions while supporting the development of young players' physical, mental, and social skills.
