Drawing inspiration from Shakespeare's comedy piece The Taming of the Shrew, Poon incorporates historical themes inspired by the old Shek Tong Tsui, creating a modern vision of romance and rivalry. In this reimagined tale, the main characters engage in a game of taming while struggling for romance. Poon and director Lee Chun Chow's seamless collaboration will most certainly bring sparks on stage, creating an unforgettable theatrical experience.
In addition to The Tamed and the Tempted, the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre will present several other remarkable productions, including The Story of K City. This play is an adaptation of Poon's fantasy novel, K City. To deliver a fully immersive, multi-sensory experience, the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre has invited renowned director Travis Preston—former Dean of the California Institute of the Arts School of Theater and Founding Artistic Director of the Center for New Performance—to direct production.
The popular musical, The Impossible Trial will return to the West Kowloon Xiqu Center in August under the collaboration between the West Kowloon Cultural District and the Hong Kong Repetory Theatre. The Impossible Trial tells a tale of redemption amongst themes of life and death, where a human and ghost work collaboratively to seek justice.
Following the success of Le Père, the Hong Kong Repertory Theater will bring another piece from acclaimed French playwright Florian Zeller, Le Fils, to audiences. Le Fils delves into the complex dynamics of family relationships, prompting reflections from the audience.
Tickets will be on sale at POPTICKET.HK from March 27 to April 8. Early birds will receive a 30pc discount, although discounts are unavailable for The Impossible Trial.
