A 60-year-old man was arrested for allegedly flying a drone in To Kwa Wan on Sunday, marking the third arrest for illegal drone operations in three consecutive days.
The man was suspected of operating the drone in a restricted flying zone and failed to comply with regulatory requirements during the flight. He has been detained for further investigation.
The involved drone, which was seen flying near San Ma Tau Street, was seized by police. The Kowloon City District investigation team is following up on the case.
Police noted that drones—whether used for recreational or commercial purposes—must comply with the Small Unmanned Aircraft Order.
Anyone who flies a drone without authorization may face a maximum penalty of a HK$100,000 fine and two years’ imprisonment.
