The collaboration featured a line of Chiikawa-themed gold jewelry, including six gold charms and three gold pendants.
The sale began at 10.30am on Sunday, but the queue of local supporters had grown to approximately 150 by noon. Staff claimed that some dedicated fans started queuing as early as 7am.
Reports indicated that a gold charm bracelet is priced at approximately HK$2,100, while a gold pendant costs about HK$540.
According to online information, the Chiikawa charm weighs around 0.9 grams, and the pendant weighs about 0.2 grams.
Among those waiting was a 21-year-old university student suramed Pak, who spent approximately two hours in line to purchase all six items, totaling around HK$8,000.
He stated that if there were no purchase limits, he would have bought even more.
Additionally, parents were observed purchasing gold items for their children as presents.
A mother, Lau, noted that she and her daughter adore Chiikawa characters, believing the "Chiikawa economy" is more appealing than the "Panda economy."
A couple shared a similar view that they preferred Chikawa products over panda's, not just because of their popularity but also the scarcity of limited editions.
