According to a post on Xiaohongshu, the netizen claimed that “Hong Kong is no longer suitable for survival,” citing issues such as housing costs, employment opportunities, language barriers, and salaries.
The post has claimed that migrants need to earn HK$30,000 to HK$40,000 monthly to achieve a basic level of comfort in Hong Kong and warned that a monthly salary of HK$20,000 would barely cover rent, transport, food, and other essential expenses.
However, some believe such complaints reflect a lack of professional skills and personal resilience, arguing that “Hong Kong offers opportunities to those willing to work hard.”
The netizen also added that Hong Kong could still serve as a worthwhile destination for those with the resources and determination to adapt to society, recommending the city to families seeking better educational opportunities for their children.
