A man was apprehended on Thursday afternoon for stealing valuables valued at approximately HK$12,000 from a hotel in Kwai Chung.
The Kwai Chung Police were notified of a suspected burglary in a hotel room located along Castle Peak Road. Following the report, officers from the Kwai Chung police district initiated a swift investigation, which included reviewing security camera footage and gathering intelligence.
By Thursday afternoon, a 29-year-old man of Pakistani descent was arrested at Tai Wo Hau Estate in Kwai Chung on suspicion of burglary.
He is currently detained for further investigation, and the case has been transferred to the Kwai Tsing Police District for additional follow-up.
During the arrest, police confiscated clothing believed to have been worn by the suspect during the burglary and recovered most of the stolen items.
The police have issued a reminder to hotels and their guests to enhance security measures. Recommendations include installing smart security camera systems and ensuring that all doors and windows are securely locked to prevent unauthorized access.
Additionally, guests are advised to avoid keeping large sums of money in hotel rooms to reduce the risk of theft.
