The 15th National Sports Games' Triathlon Test Event, scheduled for this weekend at the Central Waterfront and Victoria Harbour, has been upgraded to meet international standards, according to Yeung Tak-keung, head of the National Games Coordination Office.
During a radio program, Yeung confirmed that the improvements made to the race course have received positive feedback from referees and staff of the mainland triathlon association, who also commended the scenic route.
He also highlighted the introduction of the mixed relay triathlon, which features teams consisting of two men and two women, in addition to the traditional men's and women's relays.
This new format has a shorter course than the individual races, enabling athletes to maintain a faster pace and engage in more frequent sprints. Yeung believes this will intensify the competitive atmosphere.
Furthermore, organizers have established a spectator area within the Central Waterfront Event Space. Over a hundred seats have been arranged, allowing audiences to experience the competition up close and personal.
