At 1.06 pm, the vehicle, driven by a woman surnamed Wong, was transitioning from Hung Hom into the tunnel.
Suddenly, a concrete chunk over a foot long fell from above, hitting the roof of the Tesla before rolling down and damaging the radiator grille.
Both the female driver and her passenger escaped without injuries.
Wong recounted that she was in the fast lane entering the tunnel when the incident occurred. She initially feared the concrete, which she estimated to be more than a foot in diameter, might crush the vehicle.
Fortunately, the concrete impacted the metal part of the roof, leaving the glass unscathed. However, it caused significant damage to the radiator grille as it fell.
Wong expressed frustration over the incident, noting the inconvenience despite having insurance and the need to file civil claims.
She raised concerns about maintenance standards, mentioning that she had heard from staff about even larger pieces of concrete.
Wong described the concrete chunk as uneven and more than a foot long, highlighting the fear she experienced during the incident, worried about the potential harm to her and her passenger.
This was the first such incident Wong had encountered in her decade of driving.
