A number of buildings in Central, the financial heart of Hong Kong, were without water on Wednesday after an underground water pipe burst late yesterday.
The water suspension has affected buildings including the International Finance Centre, Exchange Square, Jardine House, and World Wide House.
The incident occurred around 11pm on Tuesday when the Water Supplies Department received a report of a water pipe leak on Connaught Road Central in Central.
Upon arrival, officials confirmed that a 200-millimeter diameter water pipe had burst and was in need of urgent repairs. Water trucks have been dispatched to provide temporary water supply to the area.
As of Wednesday noon, workers are continuing repairs and aim to restore the water supply before 6pm today. The affected road sections will also be reopened after the completion of the repair work.
