Taxi driver attributes Sham Shui Po crash to blood sugar drops

A traffic accident happened in Sham Shui Po on Monday afternoon when a taxi veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a van at the intersection of Lai Chi Kok Road and Wong Chuk Street.

The taxi was traveling along Lai Chi Kok Road towards Cheung Sha Wan at around 12.28 pm, when it suddenly drove to the opposite lane towards Mong Kok near the junction with Wong Chuk Street and crashed with a van. 

Initial reports suggest that the 72-year-old taxi driver experienced a drop in blood sugar while driving, causing dizziness and leading to the accident.  

The 51-year-old male driver of the van sustained back pain, while the taxi driver also reported injuries. Both were transported to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment.
