Lee greeted citizens during his visit to the Tin Hau Temple Plaza fair. He took the time to chat with flower stall owners, inquiring about their businesses. The city leader also spent HK$200 to buy some gladiolus.
Some citizens took the opportunity to express their concerns, with one shouting, "Chief Executive, please don't cut the HK$2 transport subsidy."
Lee also greeted several children and wished everyone success in their studies and good health.
He also mentioned that the coming year is the Year of the Snake, symbolizing agility, prosperity, and wealth in Chinese culture, believing that Hong Kong will again demonstrate its agility and versatility.
Tse noted that total attendance at Lunar New Year fairs across Hong Kong reached 1.6 million as of Monday, seeing an increase of 300,000 from 2024, as vendors have indicated that business has improved by about 10 percent as well.
Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po also visited the Lunar New Year fair in Victoria Park. He paid particular attention to student-run stalls, asking about their sales performance and staffing arrangements.
He purchased plush toys, student-designed keychains and publications, praising their creativity. In addition, he also greeted visitors and took photos with them.
As "panda economy" has gained popularity recently, Chan also supported stalls selling panda-themed products by buying a giant panda plush toy.
