A wave of residents from Shenzhen have begun utilizing the social media platform Xiaohongshu to share their comprehensive experiences related to Hong Kong following the reintroduction of the multiple-entry visa scheme.
Recent posts and videos on the platform are turning away from the bustling streets of Yau Tsim Mong and the busy shopping districts in Central. Instead, users highlight their leisure activities in the city's lesser-known spots, like Kam Tin, Sheung Shui, and Tuen Mun.
One of the posts suggested a scenic route starting with a B2 bus from Shenzhen Bay Port to Yuen Long for a taste of outstanding satay noodles at a local restaurant, before hopping on the MTR to Kam Sheung Road station and visiting flea markets and village houses to enjoy a tranquil afternoon.
Another poster recommended a hike at Sheung Shui Wa Shan, affectionately dubbing it the Hong Kong edition Great Wall due to its winding trail connecting multiple peaks and offering stunning views of both Shenzhen Wutong Mountain and the Hong Kong Ng Tung River.
Meanwhile, a post titled "Stop squeezing into Central and enjoy a quiet trip in Sheung Shui" praised the area's slow pace of life and recommended the beef brisket and tripe noodles at Shek Wu Hui Market Cooked Food Centre, as well as enjoying the serene surroundings in North District Park, the market, and the public library.
One enthusiastic food lover shared her quest for Hong Kong egg waffles in Tuen Mun, detailing her 4.5-hour round trip with schedules to lunch at a restaurant and enjoy a sunset view on the Hong Kong Gold Coast.
