The cross-border traffic flow on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) is expected to experience a significant increase during the Lunar New Year holidays, with the peak period anticipated to start on January 30.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Authority estimated the peak hour for the westbound direction of the mega bridge -- from Hong Kong to Zhuhai or Macau -- will start from 9 am on January 30 to 3 pm on February 1.
The eastbound direction, from Zhuhai to Hong Kong, will experience a traffic surge from 3 pm on January 31 to midnight on February 2.
Authorities call for commuters from Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau to refrain from traveling during peak periods to avoid heavy traffic jams.
Separately, the toll fees will be waived for small passenger vehicles with a seating capacity of seven or less traveling via the HZMB and the Shenzhen–Zhongshan Link starting January 28 until 11.59 pm on February 4.
The arrangements for small passenger vehicles to pass through the electronic toll lanes and manual toll lanes will remain unchanged, the Authority added.
