A landlord called the police at around 6 am on Saturday (Jan 18) after finding her tenant, surnamed Chiu, unconscious in the bathroom of a unit on Ki Lung Street.
Chiu was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical responders.
Chiu's husband mentioned that the residents of the subdivided flat had alerted the landlord about an electrical leak on Friday (Jan 17).
He stated that the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department suggested the unit probably experienced an electrical leak that didn't trigger the circuit breaker, which ultimately led to the accident.
The cause of death is pending autopsy, and the incident is classified as a body found case.
