The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) co-hosted a youth training program with the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Brunei (ACB) to engage young people in promoting integrity.
ICAC said the joint effort also marked the beginning of a series of initiatives to promote international cooperation for the year.
The four-member ICAC delegation has conducted a four-day training in collaboration with the ACB for local graft fighters and youth. The program included a large-scale seminar attended by about 150 participants and a two-day interactive training workshop.
In the training workshop, ICAC officers leveraged social media to promote youth integrity and shared their experience in organizing youth programs and developing moral education resources.
Upon the invitation of the ICAC, representatives from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) also participated in the program to promote anti-graft work.
"The collaboration with the ACB marks a significant milestone as the Commission has taken its youth education to the international level," Assistant Director of Community Relations of ICAC Debbie Ly Uyen-g said.
The ICAC delegation also met with Xiao Jianguo, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Brunei Darussalam, to give an update on the ICAC's latest initiatives in international cooperation.
Apart from Brunei, the ICAC and the UNODC plan to host a regional youth anti-corruption training program in Thailand in July to provide training for anti-corruption agencies in the Asia-Pacific region to enhance youth engagement in graft fight further.
