Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the Macau University of Science and Technology Thursday morning.
Xi arrived at the university at around 10am after he left the Xinzhuyuan guest hotel.
The university successfully launched the "Macau Science 1" space exploration satellites last year, and later received a letter from the Chinese leader congratulating the university's faculty and students on the launch, and acknowledging their enthusiasm and commitment to the nation's scientific and technological development.
According to Xinhua, Xi was briefed on the development of two state-level key laboratories in the university - one on the quality of traditional Chinese medicine and the other on lunar and planetary science.
He also engaged in exchanges with staffers and students at the university, having stayed for around an hour throughout the visit.
Xi then visited the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
He had talked with Macao residents living and starting businesses in the cooperation zone, and with people involved in the zone's planning, construction, management and services.
