Each person can register for a dental general public session once a day, with the option to choose from three clinics, under the new online registration system for the dental general public session that will be launched on December 30.
Registrations at designated dental clinics on the following day will be accepted daily from 9.30 am to 11.30 am. Real-name registration is required and each person can only register once per day, the Department of Health (DH) announced.
Quotas will be allocated by computer ballot, with half reserved for seniors aged 65 and older. Registered users can check their results online or via text by 12.30 pm.
Dental Services Consultant of DH Kitty Hse Mei-yin explained that the order of clinic selection will affect the ballot results, but multiple registrations will not increase chances.
She added that DH will notify the public of leftover tickets via their website and establish a special hotline for registrations.
Staff at District Health Centres will be trained to assist seniors with the registration process.
As for the Primary Dental Co-care Pilot Scheme, Thomas Chan Chung-ching, Permanent Secretary for Health, acknowledged that the proposed fees are lower than typical market rates, but emphasized that the dental profession has supported the initiative.
