The first round of demolition works will focus on Kam Pik House, Pik Hoi House and Tan Fung House. Subsequently, the demolition will proceed with Kam Hon House, Pak Suet House, Hung Ngok House, and Kam Wan House, all scheduled for completion within one year. The remaining four residential blocks are projected to be demolished by 2039.
During this period, the operations of 11 social welfare organizations in the estate are not expected to be affected.
The first batch of affected residents will be relocated to Mei Tung Estate in Wong Tai Sin, while other batches will be able to remain in the original district with priority for purchasing nearby housing projects under the Green Form Subsidized Home Ownership Scheme.
Lawmaker Bill Tang Ka-piu raised concerns about the difficulties elderly residents face during the relocation, proposing that the government provide additional support such as lifetime rent exemptions for those displaced by the redevelopment.
Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho Wing-yin earlier noted that around 9,200 flats could be provided upon redevelopment, representing a net gain of about 1,800 flats.
