Former Physical Fitness staff begin work at perFIT

Former trainers from the now-defunct Physical Fitness have started their new roles at perFIT, with the company expressing intentions to hire all former employees of Physical Fitness.

Following the closure of the gym chain, a new service provider has rebranded and reopened the Wan Chai branch under the name "Healthy," and now the gym is further renamed "perFIT" and acquired by the medical beauty group, perFACE.

The Wan Chai branch of perFIT reopened today, staffed by former coaches of Physical Fitness. One of the coaches, surnamed Mok, who had been with Physical Fitness for approximately eight years, mentioned that no new shareholders reached out to the staff directly during the transition.

In late September, Mok was contacted by perFIT through his former manager and subsequently signed an employment contract with the new company on Monday (Oct 7).

He expressed satisfaction with the terms of the new contract and optimism about the future of perFIT, although he noted that the company has yet to disclose its long-term strategies.

The coach has reconnected with about 20 of his former clients, who will resume their training sessions at perFIT. However, he acknowledged the loss of some clients, which could potentially impact his earnings.

He also mentioned that perFIT is willing to accept any former clients of Physical Fitness to fulfill their remaining sessions. Additionally, he is in the process of reclaiming wages that were withheld by the previous management.

A spokesperson for perFIT reported that the company has employed approximately 200 staff members, including about 60 coaches, all of whom are former employees of Physical Fitness. The staff members are currently stationed at the Wan Chai and Mong Kok branches, with the latter still undergoing renovations.

The spokesperson emphasized that perFIT aims to rehire all former Physical Fitness employees and to reopen branches at their original locations, although financial considerations will influence these plans.

It was also clarified that perFACE was introduced to Physical Fitness through an intermediary on September 21, and customer data was transferred directly from Physical Fitness to perFIT, with no involvement from "Healthy."
