The landslide, measuring approximately 10 meters by 10 meters, was reported at around 11 pm yesterday after the city was hit by a heavy downpour.
Both lanes on a section of Stanley Gap Road were once closed to all traffic following the landslide, with one lane reopened for two-way traffic at approximately 7 am this morning.
The Highways Department said its staffers were immediately deployed to the scene for follow-up after receiving the report. However, during the clearing process, there was another mudslide, causing the staffers to evacuate temporarily.
Officers from the Geotechnical Engineering Office later arrived at the site for inspection, with a contractor working overnight to complete the initial repair work, said the department.
The department said it will continue to monitor the situation and will proceed with the remaining slope reinforcement works, with the aim of reopening all lanes of the affected road section as soon as possible.
