Disneyland held a homecoming ceremony for Hong Kong's Olympians who competed in the Paris Games, on Sunday. The event celebrated the athletes' achievements and provided them with an opportunity to share their experiences from the Olympics.
The ceremony featured notable athletes including gymnast Shek Wai-hung, cyclist Lee Sze-wing, and the badminton duo of Tse Ying-suet and Tang Chun-man, who recently clinched a silver medal at the Japan Open.
Nearly 1,000 team members from Hong Kong, along with their relatives and friends, were invited to attend
During his opening speech, Commissioner for Sports, Sam Wong Tak-sum, highlighted the ongoing efforts of Hong Kong's Paralympians, who are currently competing for medals.
He encouraged the local community to continue supporting Hong Kong athletes and expressed hope for increased business involvement in the development of sports.
He emphasized the importance of long-term support from businesses like Disneyland for the growth of sports in Hong Kong, which he believes will foster more talent and enhance Hong Kong's stature in the international sports arena.
Seperately, national team Olympians from Hong Kong engaged in a dialogue with their counterparts from Macau during their visit to the gaming hub on Sunday.
The discussion included eight gold medalists from the Paris Games, such as table tennis captain Ma Long, diver Quan Hongchan, swimmer Pan Zhanle, and gymnast Liu Yang.
The athletes gathered at the Olympic Sports Centre in Taipa to share insights on handling pressure and overcoming injuries.
The national team's visit will conclude with a gala show at the Macau East Asian Games Dome on Sunday night, followed by a community event on Monday.
