The MTR Corporation announced on Thursday it is offering its employees a salary bump of between 2.05 and 6.15 percent, depending on their performance, while those with excellent working performance will also be handed a special bonus.
According to sources, all employees will be eligible for a discretionary bonus of at least 45 percent of their monthly salary, with those of excellent performances receiving a maximum of 2.22 months.
The railway operator said the move has taken into account the company's performance, market and economic environment, salary trend survey results, and employee contributions.
The Hong Kong Federation of Railway Trade Unions previously demanded a pay rise of no less than 6 percent, also calling for the railway operator to hand out a bonus of no less than the previous year, as well as a special bonus celebrating the firm’s 45th anniversary.
They also requested improvements in various allowances, and an extension of the retirement age to 65.
