The Temple Street Night Market will open for another six months to the end of this year, the Tourism Board announced on Friday.
The night market, introduced in mid-December last year and is expected to last six months, is part of the government’s Night Vibes Hong Kong campaign to spice up the city’s nightlife and boost the economy.
The city’s Tourism Board announced today that the half-year promotion on Temple Street will be extended for another six months until December this year.
The board will launch a second round of promotional campaigns, while lantern decorations at the market will also be expanded in a bid to draw more tourists and local residents to visit.
Tourism Board executive director Dane Cheng said, as of early April this year, it is estimated that over 1.5 million tourists and local residents have visited Temple Street, which he described as an encouraging result.
He expected with the launch of a new round of promotions and by extending the operating hours of the market, businesses could seize the opportunity to generate more “prosperity” through increased popularity, thereby boosting consumption.
