A worker was killed at a Ta Kwu Ling sawmill on Thursday at around 12.07 pm after 150 wooden planks collapsed from a platform four meters above ground.

It is understood that the 43-year-old worker was struck on the head and fell unconscious. He was certified dead at the scene.
The wooden planks are about 3 meters long, weighing about 1.7 tonnes.
The Labour Department has dispatched officers to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
Authorities have classified the case as an industrial accident, and the police's patrol sub-unit of the Ta Kwu Ling division under the New Territories North Regional Headquarters will conduct further investigations. At this point, no arrests have been made.
Chris Sun Yuk-han, the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, expressed deep concern about the incident.
