The first recycling store located in an MTR station, namely GREEN@TSING YI, is up and running starting Friday.

Speaking at the opening ceremony this afternoon, Secretary for Environment & Ecology Tse Chin-wan said the recycling store operated under the city’s waste reduction program GREEN@COMMUNITY, will be able to provide convenience to members of the public participating in the city’s green efforts.
He said GREEN@COMMUNITY will be collaborating with the MTR Corporation in intorducing a “Carbon Wallet” scheme, allowing members of the public to redeem rewards using points earned from recycling.
The rewards include free MTR single journey tickets and local eco-tours.
Meanwhile, Tse said additional recycling stores will be set up in the Kwai Tsing District in the future, including Cheung Hong, Kwai Shing, Lai King, and On Yam.
The Environmental Protection Department will also gradually expand the number of recycling stores to the 50 public housing estates in the territory after April 1.
