A fire truck tipped over at Kowloon Bay Fire Station as a 56-meter-long ladder was twisted after hitting an overhead road sign and laid across two driving lanes on Kai Cheung Road on Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred at around 3.20 pm today with no injuries reported. Police are now investigating the cause of the incident.
According to a dash cam video circulated online, the fire truck’s ladder was extended from inside the station and reached over Kai Cheung Road. Yet, the ladder suddenly dropped and hit the overhead road sign, twisting it as the other end landed onto the road.
Luckily, all vehicles had pulled over before a red light and none were damaged.
Photos online also showed the fire truck slightly tipping to its side, suspectedly because it was pulled by the twisted ladder.
The Transport Department said due to the incident, all lanes of Kai Cheung Road (both bounds) between Wang Kwong Road and Kai Shing Street are still closed to all traffic.
Traffic is currently busy and drivers are advised to use alternative routes.
