The Civil Aviation Department has requested Cathay Pacific to submit a report on its recent flight cuts and explain the handling of its flight arrangement to the authorities.
The management of both parties met on Tuesday, with CAD reiterating its concern over Cathay's flight arrangement issues and explaining clearly to affected passengers after flight consolidation.
The aviation watchdog requested the flight giant draft a report on the incident to elucidate the cause and the approach for handling the flight arrangement to prevent the reoccurrence of similar incidents.
The report has to be submitted by the end of January.
CAD urged Cathay to properly manage its deployment of manpower and other resources to ensure the stable provision of reliable flight services to passengers.
"It was extremely undesirable for the CPA canceling a number of flights for consecutive days and in the remainder of January and February," CAD said, adding the incident also falls short of the expectations of both the government and the public.
