A hearing has been scheduled next January for former Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data Stephen Wong Kai-yi after he pleaded not guilty to a count of careless driving.
Sixty-eight-year-old Wong, a senior counsel, was issued the court summons after he allegedly didn’t stop and give way at a roundabout near the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong in Pok Fu Lam on April 15.
This forced another driver to brake abruptly and the driver later filed a police report.
Appearing before magistrate Jeffrey Sze Cho-yiu in the Eastern Court today, Wong pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Sze then adjourned the case to January 18 and the hearing is expected to last for one day.
The prosecution said they will summon three witnesses and Wong will be defending himself.
