It is ridiculous to say that the government cares only about national security and nothing else, and this can also be classified as a type of “soft resistance”, said Hong Kong leader John Lee Ka-chiu.

Speaking on an RTHK program aired on Wednesday, the Chief Executive admitted there are policies related to national security but the majority of the policies are not related.
“I admit that the government and individuals have our blind spots and you can tell us what we should do better. I adopt a result-oriented approach and I embrace these [opinions],” Lee said.
Lee criticized certain individuals who use livelihood issues, such as the economy or public homes, to campaign soft resistance against the government to avoid drawing attention.
He added there are also individuals who target the national development and suggest sanctioning certain people or industries.
“They want to make us lag behind when in competition in a specific industry. [It’s like] strangling someone’s neck.”
Lee pointed out that foreign forces have nurtured their “agents” here and he doesn’t believe that these “agents” and things have disappeared from the city,
When talking about Sunday’s election, Lee said the councilors should be passionate and familiar with the district they are running in. Their thinking should also be united, that they pursue the same goal of serving citizens and make their lives comfortable without making anymore political noises, he also said.
He called on the councilors-to-be to work hard. He joked that he would be able to work twice as hard if he had 48 hours a day.
