Themed “Differently Together”, the Lab of 6,800 square feet covers three key topical issues of multiculturalism, mental wellness and active ageing.
In the Link Sustainability Lab, has set up immersive visual experiences, lively interactive games and free seminars and workshops, in hopes of creating a more inclusive vibe in the community and driving towards a more sustainable future.
With over 600,000 non-Chinese residents in the city, it is important for Hongkongers to adopt a more inclusive approach, put aside their differences in skin color, background, culture and lifestyle, and focus instead on a deeper understanding and better appreciation of others. In the 270-degree immersive space, colourful particles are shaped into unique individuals, allowing participants to let loose and interact with friends. After that, the Lab will feature 15 stories from diverse backgrounds which have been designed to bring out this message of commonalities and break down stereotypes.
Addressing the stresses of living in a metropolis like Hong Kong, the Lab offers three interactive installations to help visitors learn how to manage emotions, how to listen effectively and console those around us, and to boost our mood by doing exercise.
An ageing population is a fact of life as the elderly are estimated to account for at least one-quarter of Hong Kong’s population by 2028. Link Sustainability Lab shows that the latest gerontechnologies can help, such as smart controller and water heater from Towngas, and other intelligent devices as applied in Peter and May’s Home Sweet Home, with the support of the Hong Kong Science & Technology Parks Corporation and the Jockey Club.
To promote social inclusion, Link will be organising more workshops on mental wellbeing, non-Chinese inclusion and active ageing, in collaboration with over a dozen non-Government organizations, social enterprises and tertiary education institutions,.
As part of the new theme, the “330 goodie” concept store opens beside the Lab. Sponsored by Link and managed by the New Life Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association, the store provides work and training opportunities for people in rehabilitation.
