Democratic Party lawmaker Hui Chi-fung is taking legal action again. This time, he is not filing private litigation, but is suing pro-establishment politician Chan Hok-fung for libel. Hui said that he wishes to "crack down on the trend of creating fake news."
Hui filed the case at the District Court last Friday, accusing Chan of defamation after the latter posted a video online alleging Hui received money for joining a protest.

Chan posted the video, which showed Hui on the street counting banknotes, to his Facebook account in late March.
Hui countered that he was collecting money to bail out fellow party member Cheng Lai-king, who was at the time detained for suspicion of "seditious intent."
