Cleaning worker injured by collapsed gate at Tsuen Wan West Sports Center

A 67-year-old cleaning worker was sent to Yan Chai Hospital after being injured by a metal gate that collapsed at Tsuen Wan West Sports Center on Thursday night. 

The incident occurred at about 7 pm last night, and the collapsed gate also damaged a private car nearby. 

The injured man, an outsourced cleaning worker for the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), was sent to the hospital by ambulance in a conscious state. 

LCSD said it is highly concerned about the incident and extends sympathies to the injured worker. It added officers from the Architectural Services Department were soon sent to the scene for assistance and investigation. 

LCSD said it has also requested the Architectural Services Department to thoroughly investigate all similar gates under its management to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
