Aamina Rehman, 29, was originally expected at the court for mention on June 7 but missed the court date after she was hospitalized in Castle Peak Hospital in Tuen Mun - a psychiatric institution.
Rehman was brought to court this afternoon on three counts of murder. She was not required to enter a plea.
Upon the prosecution’s request, the magistrate adjourned the case to June 26 pending the prosecution obtaining two psychiatric reports of the defendant.
The defendant has also been ordered to be remanded at Siu Lam Psychiatric Center over the adjournment period.
Rehman is charged with three counts of murder of her children, aged two, four and five, in their subdivided flat in Sham Shui Po.
A charge sheet available for inspection by the press said Rehman was a Hong Kong identity card holder and unemployed at the time of the offences.
An investigation into the deaths by the police force’s Kowloon West regional crime unit continues.
Murder convictions carry a mandatory sentence of life imprisonment in Hong Kong.
