The incident occurred at around 2am on Tuesday when the woman surnamed Fan was taking a stroll by the pier following an argument with her husband.
She also borrowed the phone of a man nearby to call her husband and bid him farewell. The man found Fan emotional and tried to comfort her, but Fan said she wanted some alone time and walked off instead.
Fan suddenly fell into the sea a few minutes later, and the sound of the water splashing alerted the man, who immediately dived into the sea to rescue the woman.
Another man – a student surnamed Chan – also dived into the waters to help rescue Fan after realizing someone had fallen into the sea.
Marine police and paramedics soon rushed to the scene and sent Fan, in a conscious state, to the hospital, alongside the first man who injured his hand.
As for Chan, he was covered in an aluminum blanket to recover from the cold after his dip in the sea. He didn't sustain any injury but lost his glasses during the rescue.
Chan said it was his first time rescuing someone in need, and he was delighted to have saved a person’s life.
