Two former employees of PCCW Services Limited (PCCW), who were charged with bribing others to disclose information of over 4,700 customers, were sentenced to six months and six weeks, respectively, on Wednesday.
Lau Shing-yan, 36, and Kan Siu-kei, 38, former team leader of the PayTV Department and former sales supervisor of the Direct Sales Department of PCCW, faced their ruling today in West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court.
The court learned the two had bribed a colleague in PCCW to search for and provide the personal data of over 4,700 customers for the purpose of illegal sales from July to October 2018.
Lau was sentenced to six months as he was the mastermind who conducted the bribery, while Kan was sentenced to six weeks.
The colleague, Lai Sze-ting, a 29-year-old PCCW former employee, had earlier pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three months in November last year.
