The incident took place around 7am on Friday and video footage circulating online showed the woman took off her mask and wiped her mucus on the train doors before spitting on it.
Staffers tried to ask the woman leave while other passengers were arguing with the woman, including an unhappy passenger who assaulted the woman multiple times and fled the scene.
The incident was reported to police and officers later issued a fixed penalty ticket to the woman for violating the Prevention and Control of Disease (Wearing of Mask) Regulation after arriving at the scene.
The case has been listed as common assault and is now handled by the Kowloon City police district after preliminary investigation.
Police added that after further investigation, MTR has charged the woman with obstructing the train operation and refusing to display identification document to staffers according to the MTR By-Laws.
