A second center has been established in Sham Shui Po on Tuesday for elderly patients with mild Covid symptoms.
The center at Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre will also serve recovering elderly patients who are assessed by the Hospital Authority as suitable for discharge.
With around 180 beds, the center provides basic meals and nursing support without charges. Lok Sin Tong Benevolent Society, Kowloon has formed a care team to provide temporary care services at the center.
The first such center was set up by the Social Welfare Department at Choi Wing Road Sports Centre in Kwun Tong on February 20.
On the other hand, more than 20 staff volunteers from the Hong Kong Metropolitan University School of Nursing and Health Studies have provided support to the frontline workers at the community treatment facility at AsiaWorld-Expo since February.
HKMU healthcare professionals also helped conduct the stringent fit test of the N95 mask, while some 200 students, alumni and staff have registered for the Covid-19 testing and vaccination work.
"Members of the university community have demonstrated their professionalism in different positions to combat the epidemic," HKMU President Paul Lam Kwan-sing said.
