Hong Kong reports 92 new Covid cases, more evacuations in Kwai Chung

Hong Kong has on Monday reported 92 new Covid-19 cases and announced evacuations from four buildings in Kwai Chung and Choi Hung.

They included 80 local infections, among which sources of infection for 13 cases remain unknown. There were also 12 imported cases. Ninety five people tested preliminary positive.

Transmissions within buildings were detected in several residential blocks, triggering partial evacuations.

At Hong Tim House, Tsz Hong Estate in Kwai Chung, five people from two flats have been infected. Residents who live in unit 06 from 1/F to 6/F have to be sent to Penny's Bay quarantine center.

At On Kwai House, Kwai Fuk Court in Kwai Chung, infection was detected at a third flat of unit 08. Residents who live in unit 08 from 1/F to 40/F are to be evacuated.

As for Kwai Yan House, Kwai Fong Estate, there are infections at three flats on 14/F. Residents on the same floor have to be evacuated, as well as those who live in unit 06 above 14/F.

Residents at seven flats in Ming Lai House, Choi Wan (II) Estate have been infected so far, including four 05 units on different floors and three flats on 10/F. Residents in unit 14 and 15 from 2/F to 24/F, as well as unit 14 to 17 on 10/F are evacuated.

Health officials have now headed to Tsui Wo House, Tai Wo Estate to investigate infections at five flats. They will determine if evacuations are necessary.

Apart from estates, cases were also identified in a school and an elderly home.

Five janitors at Shatin Methodist College have been infected, and their 12 colleagues have to be quarantined.

Three cases were found in a Bank of China branch in Trend Plaza in Tuen Mun.

A staff of Lam Woo Home for the Elderly in On Yam Estate tested preliminary positive, and the residents there may have to be evacuated.

An environmental sample collected from an air vent at Hakka Cuisine, Lions Rise Hall tested positive of the coronavirus. The restaurant was visited by a Covid-19 patient.
