Sabina Mendes de Assunção crowned Miss HK

Sabina Mendes de Assunção, 22, has been crowned the new Miss Hong Kong. 

The first runner-up of the pageant show is Carina Leung, 26, and second runner-up is Kristy Shaw, 27. 

Sabina, of mixed Chinese and Portuguese heritage, started learning dancing at the age of six. She is skilled in ballet, Chinese dance, jazz, hip-hop and latin dance, among others. 

She graduated with a double degree in biochemistry and human biology at University of Toronto in Canada. She hopes to become a doctor. 

Sabina rose to become a strong contestant after her confident exchanges with judges. She used fruits to describe several judges – Awayuki strawberry for Loletta Chu Ling-ling. 

Shaw also won the title of Miss Friendship, while Miss Photogenic goes to Penny Yeung, 19.
