With global tourism being hit hard by the Covid pandemic, Ngong Ping 360 said they have recorded nearly 260,000 guests visiting their cable car services in 2020, with the average number of daily local visitors increased by 13 percent.
The cable car company said in 2020, nearly 260,000 guests visited Ngong Ping 360 and the average number of daily visitors was 1,271, the majority of whom were local visitors.
Furthermore, the number of local visitors during individual long public holidays increased by nearly 50 percent year-on-year in 2020, according to Ngong Ping 360.
At the same time, the cable car company said their maintenance team has been committed to maintaining the stability and reliability of their cable car service, with the average reliability of the cable car system reached 99.93 percent in 2020, maintaining 2019’s historical record high.
Meanwhile, Ngong Ping 360 said the city’s first-ever "Cable Car Discovery Centre" is expected to open this summer.
“The permanent exhibition will comprise eight exhibition areas and interactive experiences, showcasing aspects such as the extreme engineering involved in the construction of the Ngong Ping Cable Car system, the key components of cable cars, and a virtual reality experience zone,” said a spokesman of the company.
“Guests will don VR headsets to explore a VR version of the restricted engineering zone that is open only to engineers, explore the unique skills and tasks of our engineering team. Professional tour guides will also talk guests through all other exhibition zones,” the spokesman added.
