A recent outbreak at Ursus Fitness in Sai Ying Pun has ballooned to 122 cases, as Hong Kong health authorities logged 30 new cases today, 13 of which linked to the cluster.
Health officials of the Centre for Health Protection's Communicable Disease Branch, said the 122 patients include seven staffers and 85 patrons, along with 40 of their close contacts.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong’s 30 new confirmed Covid-19 cases – 16 local and 14 imported – have brought the city’s Covid tally to 11,312 cases.
Among the 30 patients were 13 men and 17 women, aged between 17 to 81 years. There were also around 10 preliminary positive cases today, including two staffers of the US consulate in Hong Kong.
The two US consulate staff, a man and a woman aged 40 and 41 respectively are asymptomatic. They were said to work desk jobs at the consulate and last worked on March 12. The Centre had suggested all staffers at the consulate to undergo Covid testing.
The two were also said to have been to a wine bar - Stazione Novella on March 10 and a Sai Kung restaurant Bones and Blades on March 3.
The local patient with untraceable source of infection is an 81-year-old male who stayed at the Pine Care (Tak Fung) Elderly Centre at Lai Chi Kok. Twenty-eight residents on the same floor with the patient and 16 staffers have been put under quarantine.
