An estimated 70,000 people who work at the airport are expected to participate in the one-off compulsory test required by the government.
Those people required to join the compulsory Covid-19 test include airport area workers employed from February 4 to 25 this year by the government, any statutory body, airport business partners, etc. who also intend to continue to have the Airport Area as their usual place of work or service during March 1 to 31.
They can visit any of the Dedicated Testing Centres set up by the Airport Authority Hong Kong in the Airport Area between this coming Thursday to 25.
The Government estimates that close to 70,000 people will participate in this compulsory test.
Upon completion of the one-off compulsory testing scheme, the government and Airport Authority Hong Kong will roll out a voluntary regular testing scheme in March for specified frontline airport staff that may have a higher risk of exposure to Covid-19 from outside Hong Kong.
The specified frontline airport staff include those who carry out quarantine procedures at the airport, handling cold chain logistics and cleaning aircraft cabins.
