East Rail services between Mong Kok East and Hung Hom stations will be suspended tomorrow, the first of ten this year to allow for work to connect the East Rail Line with a new cross-harbour rail section.
The MTR Corporation says it will closely monitor traffic conditions. Free shuttle buses will run between Kowloon Tong and Hung Hom stations during the closure.
MTR head of operation, Sammy Wong Kwan-wai, warned passengers of an extra journey time if they plan to take the shuttle buses, encouraging them to use other rail lines instead.
All passengers who take the West Rail Line and leave from Hung Hom station using Octopus cards will not be charged as part of the special arrangement on fares.
The rail section between Mong Kok East and Hung Hom stations will also be closed on nine other designated Sundays before October because of the planned construction works.
