A kindergarten group held an interactive live-streamed virtual graduation ceremony for the first time in its 55th year history last month.
Regular graduation ceremonies have been canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic and ongoing social distancing measures.
Over 1,500 online guests of kindergarten students from seven different campuses of the Victoria Educational Organization participated in an interactive virtual graduation ceremony on July 30 and 31.
Throughout the event, the graduates and their families enjoyed engaging with one another and with the hosts. They sang the school song together and interacted with principals, teachers and other graduates. Each campus team thoughtfully prepared a highlight of school life for the graduates and pre-recorded choreographed student performances as a tribute to parents, VEO said.
"One thing is for certain: VEO’s 2020 graduation ceremony will never be forgotten! Despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic, our VEO community remained united and acted quickly to transform a very traditional event into a live streamed interactive ceremony marked by creativity and warmth," said Jennifer Yu Cheng, Supervisor of VEO & Deputy Vice-Chairwoman of CTF Education Group.
"We had merely three weeks to prepare, but the virtual graduation ceremonies took place to the applause of over 1,500 online guests. The student performances were tremendous, showcasing outstanding trilingual proficiency, confidence, creativity and teamwork – the best demonstration of our commitment to excellence in education. We are so proud of you all!" she said.
Dr Adrian Cheng, JP, Board Director, VEO and Vice Chairman & Chief Executive Officer; Rebecca Ip, Executive Director of VEO; Lambert Chan, Chief Executive, Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF; and professor Joseph Sung were among the representatives and guests in the ceremony.
VEO, a member of CTF Education Group, has been investing more resources in teaching and learning in recent years. It collaborated with Project Zero at Harvard Graduate School of Education to promote maker-centered learning and technology development which are centered around global research.
