National security body convenes first meeting

The Chief Executive's Office said the Committee for Safeguarding National Security convened its first meeting today, and was attended by all its members.

The National Security Adviser appointed by the central government, Liaison Office director, Luo Huining, also sat in on the meeting.

The committee is chaired by the Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor. The members comprise the Chief Secretary for Administration, Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Financial Secretary, Paul Chan Mo-po, Secretary for Justice, Teresa Cheng Yeuk-wah, SC, Secretary for Security, John Lee Ka-chiu, the Commissioner of Police,Tang Ping-keung, Deputy Commissioner of Police (National Security), Edwina Lau, Director of Immigration, Au Ka-wang, Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Hermes Tang, and the Director of the Chief Executive's Office, Chan Kwok-ki, who is also the Secretary General of the committee.
