Six people who were found playing chess on Sunday night have become the first to be fined with a HK$2,000 fixed penalty for gathering outside a Kwai Chung estate since social gatherings of more than four people were banned from March 29.
They were penalized by the police who had been alerted to the gathering outside Kwai Shing East Estate on Sunday night.
They had ignored police warnings to leave the gathering.
The Prevention & Control of Disease (Prohibition on Group Gathering) Regulation became effective at midnight on March 29 and will be effective for three months.
