AIA Hong Kong, the largest insurer in the SAR in terms of customer base and agent network, saw its mobile application remain dysfunctional for over a day.
The subsidiary of AIA (1299) had previously announced a scheduled "system maintenance" for its AIA+ app, set to occur from 22:00 on Sunday until 15:00 the following day. However, a customer reported that despite the designated maintenance period ending, upon accessing the app on her Android device this afternoon, a persistent message stating "AIA Vitality service is under maintenance" greeted her, failing to provide a clear timeframe for completion.
AIA Vitality, an application designed to incentivize healthy lifestyles by rewarding users with points for award redemption, recently underwent integration into AIA+ earlier this month. This integration consolidated customers' insurance policies and the incentivized program under a single platform.
The insurer has started to roll out AIA+ across its 18 markets in Asia.
Despite the reported app malfunction and customer concerns, AIA Hong Kong & Macau has not replied to the media enquiry.
