AlipayHK has launched cross-border payment services in another popular travel destinations for Hongkongers – Thailand.
AlipayHK is already accepted in the mainland, Macau, Japan, Singapore and South Korea.
Ant Group, owner of the digital payment platform, announced the collaboration with the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
International tourists can use their familiar digital wallets in Thailand through Alipay+, while Thai merchants can reach more overseas customers via the mobile wallet.
A total of four e-wallets are now supported in Thailand – AlipayHK, Kakao Pay from South Korea, Malaysia’s Touch ‘n Go eWallet and Alipay, which has been accepted in the kingdom since 2015.
