The serious accident occurred at around 5am on Ping Ha Road. A medium goods vehicle traveling toward Yuen Long was suspected of losing control near Lo Uk Tsuen, crossing into the opposite lane after hitting a traffic island and colliding head-on with an oncoming tractor unit.

The impact left the 31-year-old truck driver, surnamed Lai, with injuries to his legs and body. He was trapped inside the cab and had to be rescued by firefighters using specialized tools to pry open the vehicle door.
Paramedics later rushed him to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment. He was reportedly semi-conscious when taken to hospital but has since regained consciousness.
The 69-year-old tractor unit driver, surnamed Cheung, was uninjured.
Following the crash, the Transport Department announced at 6.12am that Ping Ha Road near Lo Uk Tsuen was closed in both directions and urged motorists to use alternative routes. MTR bus routes K65 and K65A were diverted as a result.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
